This weekend I decided to come back up to Tallahassee, mostly because I was pretty bored at home in Sarasota, but also to see Kirk, Regan and Beth – all of whom are leaving town pretty soon. The ride I had planned fell through the previous night, so on Friday I took the Greyhound up here. On the way, I began and finished ‘Burmese Days’ by George Orwell, which was very good, of course. The plan had been to get into town at 11.30pm, and go with Cass and Matt to Waldenbooks to buy pick up HP6 and see all the people in costumes, but Emily-inspired traffic led to me not arriving til 1am. So instead we went to a party where a lot of people were guilty of this, but I got to see a few of my beloved hoodlums, and also a brief but bloody “altercation” between two grown men.
Saturday was a nice day, and exactly the reason why I came up here. Got to have lunch with one friend, then go to the mall with some others, pick up HP6, bump into various other friends, then catch a movie (‘Hustle and Flow’ – awesome) and then go to Regan and Beth’s going-away do. Look out for pictures from that soon. It was nice to see everyone again, it’s only been a month or so, but I’ve missed them.
In three bursts, I began and ended Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous one, only putting it down to go to sleep (it was like 4am), and to get some food. Cass already knew the one bombshell from the book (damn you, Livejournal!) but thankfully I didn’t, so when it happened I was proper shocked. Did you know that J.K. Rowling made $36m on Saturday? In one day!
My major concern lately has been the house situation for next term, with Dan moving in, Stefan moving out, and me moving back. Stefan hasn’t been very communicative, so Dan’s been getting worried, but this morning I got a call from the forth hand in this pie, Danielle, and things sound like they coo’.
I’m heading back to Sarasota tonight, going on the overnight bus. Have to be back home tomorrow, the folks are catering a wedding on Thursday and need my sister’s and my help with the cooking. Got the new SFA album, ‘Love Kraft’ to listen to on the journey.
Oh, and I got the new SLB t-shirts, and they’re wicked cool.
Hope all’s well in your worlds.
